Context and Justification:
The embattled regions of the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon with the
ongoing conflict, has had a devastating impact on the lives of youths and their education.
The insecurity in the region couple with the loss of lives, burning of schools and short
down of others, has forced youths to flee to other regions within the country in order to
secure their education. The conflict has led to a dramatic humanitarian situation with over
2,000000 Cameroonians now internally displaced. The Humanitarian Needs Overview
for Cameroon, holds that the Francophone regions of West and Littoral, center are regions
with mass influx of IDPs from the Anglophone regions, majority of whom are youths
who find themselves idle, exposed to radicalization and violence in an attempt to react to
the different challenges they face in the host communities. Also, within the context of the
crisis, many teenagers lost their parents, guidance, term report cards, books and other
identification documents that has hindered and delay the continuity of their education.
Furthermore, due to the lack of finances and the absence of parent guide, children of age
groups are found loitering around the quarters while their education liggers. This has led
to an increase in crime wave, prostitution, unwanted pregnancies, transmittable diseases
and death rate.
Thus to respond to these needs, this project seeks to provide scholarships and educational
kits such as: Textbooks, exercise books, school bags, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers etc to
pupils and students of ELOUMDEN 1 in the center region and KUNG village in the
Northwest region of Cameroon. The project in addition, will create awareness on the
importance of education among teenagers, their future, the future of their families,
communities and the nation at large.
